The Siberian Husky first came to the United States from Russia during the Alaskan Gold Rush. With it’s thick double-coat and high-energy level, it was well-suited to it’s use as a sled dog. Today, Siberian Husky’s are mostly family pets and show dogs. The Siberian Husky has retained the wolf look, although genetically it is not more closely related to the wolf than any other dog breed. However, it does have an inclination to howl rather than bark. As a working breed, Huskies require a lot of physical activity. They like to play and are sociable, easy-going dogs, but if bored, they can become destructive. Most Siberian Huskies have a white tip at the end of their tail, and some of them have piercing, blue eyes.
