The Chihuahua, with it’s big eyes and big ears, is the smallest of all dog breeds. Chihuahua’s may be either long-haired or short-haired (smooth coat), a difference that shows up even within the same litter. The breed was named after the place it was first discovered, in the state of Chihuahua in Mexico. Chihuahua’s are devoted, curious, and will fearlessly attack larger dogs. While stereotyped as high-strung and overly jealous, these negative traits are usually due to a lack of proper socialization. When frightened, they will bite, so they are not good pets for small children.
